Blue Cuckoo Marans chicks are primarily blue with a white spot on the top of the head. The front of the neck, wing tips, and abdomen are white. They have single combs and clean, black and white feet and legs. Adult plumage of Blue Cuckoo Marans is Blue Barred with each feather marked across with blue and white bands. Because of the action of the barred gene, the male plumage is slightly lighter than the female. Female Marans lay extremely dark brown or rich chocolate-colored eggs. Some Blue Cuckoo Marans will have feathers on their feet.
